WEARING
The light breeze ran through Skylar’s straight, brunette hair as she sat on the park bench. Her face was mostly covered by her sketch pad that she held close wanting to keep the attention away from her. Attention and Skylar didn’t mix well at all. The awkward girl enjoyed blending in and being a wall flower where no one would notice her. Whenever attention was on her she would start freaking out and breathing heavily. It wasn’t too good. Thankfully attention was rarely put on the girl because she never stood out in the crowd so not many people in her school even knew she existed because even when she did talk, which was quite rare, it came out in an almost silent whisper. All her noises were soft and quiet though. Whenever she would sigh or groan or make an uncomfortable sound it sounded like something a little field mouse would make. It was quite ironic that it happened like that because her mother did always call her “her little mouse”. Skylar had always just thought it was because she was small and cute like a mouse. She didn’t know she was that quiet. To her she was normal and had a normal sounding voice. She simply thought that everyone else was just loud. It was only when she got to Wigmore that it donned on her that was really was that socially awkward and quiet. She remembered in her first year at Wigmore that if anyone came up to her she’d either almost have something like a panic attack or she’d just run away. Running away was something Skylar was quite good at. She usually ran whenever someone caught her drawing them because she loved to draw people she saw. It was the only way to connect to the world without having to actually be in it because Skylar wasn’t ready to be in it. She was too afraid of what could happen because we all know that the world is a hard place to be in and the little awkward girl would be eaten alive. Poor girl.
Scanning the park for someone to draw she looked at one guy and blinked her eyes a few times. He seemed like a good person to draw. Flipping open her sketch pad she passed all the other people she had drawn in the past. Skylar didn’t like a lot of them because she could see all the flaws in the pictures, but it was good enough that you could most likely tell who was who. Skylar never let anyone see her sketch pad though. She was way too shy about her work to let anyone do that. She didn’t want people to criticize her and make her feel worse about herself. Trust me the poor girl didn’t need anyone to do that her. Really the only people in Wigmore that had seen her art work were the teachers because she had to show them. They all reassured her that she was talented, but all Skylar could see in her work were the flaws that they held. Every artist was like that though. Well she hoped they were.
Taking out her favorite pencil she glanced up at the guy and then at her page. She light pencil strokes she started making his strong jaw line. She peeked over her sketch pad and tried to memorize his face structure the best she could. Skylar erased parts of his jaw and then drew them again trying to make it perfect. When she was satisfied with his jaw line, she peeked over her sketch pad again. Ducking down again she lightly made lines to map out his face. She looked up at him and blinked her eyes. She studied with icy blue eyes and then ducked behind her sketch pad. With her sharp pencil she made almond shaped eyes and flicked her wrist to make his eyelashes. Skylar shaped in his iris, but not his pupil for they were an icy blue, not a dark color which would require Skylar shading them in. She picked up her head and studied the guy once again. Skylar consistently glanced at him as she tried to draw his nose and lips, which were now it what looked like a smirk, but she could be wrong. Either way she drew his lips like they were in a smirk. Moving on to his body she sketched an outline of it and mapped it out with different shapes. She glanced at him at him one more time and then continued to draw him.
