BEAUTIFUL * YOUNG * CUNNING
With a soft sigh Nikki stretched lazily, the warm towel beneath her curved body shifting in position. Adjusting the material she shielded her eyes from the blaring sun and gazed out across the pool area, she was completely alone for the moment. Up in the cerulean sky a flock of birds twittered aimlessly as they soared through the air, their bodies black spicks in the atmosphere. Her white bikini contrasted nicely with her tanned flesh yet her ice-blue eyes held an ominous glint, like the flickering flames of a fire. A contented smirk formed upon her lips.
Nikki loved the sensation that came from sun bathing; the warm rays gently comforted her exposed skin. She hadnft tanned since she had arrived back to Wigmore after vacationing on the Italian coast with her parents. As much as she loved Italy, her motherfs presence had completely ruined her holiday, and now she had to seek relaxation from the educational establishment known as Wigmore academy. The concept was completely messed up yet fully true.

Ty loved to bask in the sun, despite all of the recent facts he had heard about skin cancer. But today something else other than the surprising warm weather caught his attention. Well someone, rather than something. Walking up to the pool, he placed his towel on the side. Taking off his loose white shirt, he revealed his own tanned body, which was also obviously worked out.
Jumping into the water, he created a huge splash. As he surfaced, he leaned on the edge of the pool so he was facing the girl. He shook she water out of his short hair and opening his mouth to speak. "You know. I heard this thing right. apparently you get skin cancer from sun baking. Not that there would be any harmful rays in this dull town though." He spoke with a smile, revealing his perfect white teeth. Despite not having much money, his mother was able to buy him braces as a young boy. They were long gone now, but the result was still there.

Cool water splashed onto her lower legs startling Nikki from her previously warm reverie, a small pout molding her lips. Swiping her bangs from her eyes, which were narrowed slightly in irritation, she gradually pushed herself upwards. A slight breeze played lightly with the ends of her curled hair and seemed to carry some of her anger away as she took in the sight of the boy and the droplets of water that clung to his bare chest. With a vague eye roll she leaned forward and said, “What a crazy concept. Perhaps I should have applied sun screen prior to coming here.” Her voiced was laced with slightly amused sarcasm.
She smiled softly though her expression was more inquisitive rather than kind. The fact he had waltzed right in and had the audacity to jump into the clear water and splash her, regardless if it were a joke, faintly intrigued Nikki. Gazing intently at his chiseled features she did her best to discern his identity but it eluded her memory. Bringing her knees up to her chest she resting her chin on top Nikki exhaled heavily. “If you don’t mind me asking, who exactly are you?” The question burned the tip of her tongue. She hated not recognizing a face.

Ty climbed out of the water and sat on the ledge, but so that he was still facing her. "But I mean, what do scientists know anyway?" He have a shrug and small laugh. He took note of the tone of her voice, and the expressions that she gave. So far, she was amusing him. Obviously she had some sort or feisty attitude that he wanted to hear more of. "I can be anybody you want me to be." He said boredly, but then shifted the position he was sitting in.
"But if you must know, I'm Ty." He introduced himself. There was no need to say his last name. Everybody knew of the VanKarlssen name, but they all knew of Nate. Sure, him and Nate were great friends. But Nate was wealthy, and his cousin. Nobody knew of the other VanKarlssen. "And you are?" He asked with a raised brow.

“Ty, hmmm…” she stated with a somewhat indifferent tone. Intertwining a lock of obsidian hair about her finger Nikki gazed towards Ty, studying his face critically. There was something prominent in his expression that reminded her of a certain upper class family but she dismissed it considering he hadn’t given her a surname. This baffled her for a moment as it was the last name that revealed status and wealth. Who wouldn’t want to flaunt that? Releasing the thick strand of hair that had been wrapped about her forefinger Nikki stated, “My name is Nikki Sullivan, I’m sure you’ve heard of my father Greyson Sullivan.” It was almost an automatic comment. This was always how she introduced herself. She wanted to make it perfectly clear to all who she met that her father, and entire family, had money and power and that they best not do something to anger her. Besides she had developed a habit of crushing those who got in her way and she hated to dirty her perfectly manicured hands. All in all she was the clichéd bitch who didn’t answer to anybody. Extending her arm and leaning over the side Nikki snatched her bottled water and took a sip, shivering lightly as the cold liquid splashed within the confines of her stomach chilling her entire body.

Ty opened his mouth to form a perfect 'o', nodding his head as he did so. He sure had heard of the Sullivan's, and he knew not to mess with them. But being the person he was, he wanted to know more of this girl. She was wealthy, she had class, and there were at least half the boys on campus who would do anything just to get with her. Ty didn't have much money, but he knew how to charm girls. Befriending a Sullivan was like winning the lottery; it made you powerful no matter how much of a jerk you turned into.
So he got out of the water, revealing his entire perfectly worked on body and shook all of the water off him. "Pleasure. Ty VanKarlssen." He nodded, giving a charming smile. Everybody knew the VanKarlssen's were rich, but that was his cousins family. But he didn't feel the need to mention that part, he just took a seat near her instead. He knew not to mess too much with her though, as he didn't want to jump straight into it. He reached for his bag and pulled out a cigarette, taking a slow drag as he lit it. He didn't care if she hated smokers, he wasn't going to stop anytime soon.

As Ty’s mouth began to form an o, Nikki smirked in satisfaction as it appeared that he was well aware of her family’s status. Folding her arms across her chest, a warm sensation of supremacy began to course through her veins propelled by the steady beating of her heart. Yet her mind momentarily shut-down as Ty pulled himself from the water, liquid beads flung from his muscular body as he shook himself dry sending a droplet to land on the tip of Nikki’s nose. With a swift, polished motion she wiped the water away and vaguely narrowed her eyes.
Opening her mouth to speak Nikki rapidly closed it as Ty further introduced himself. Her eyes widened in surprise, how had she not recognized him? The VanKarelssen’s were just as prosperous as her own family, their social rank extraordinarily high. Brushing a lock of hair from her eye Nikki nodded towards him, her smirk vaporizing into a gentler smile. The expression was somewhat comical as a genuine grin rarely graced her features. “A VanKarelssen? Well it’s a pleasure indeed.”
When Ty had settled himself besides her Nikki turned her head slightly, her ice-blue eyes carefully observing his chiseled features. But she was taken aback as he lit a cigarette, placing what was in her opinion a deadly poison to his lips. She was not fond of smoking but didn’t say a word about it for it would be hypocritical of her to do so. Usually at parties she would smoke some foreign object, it didn’t matter what, but she was typically too wasted to make any rational decision. The taste was alright but it never really appealed to her and the scent immediately turned her away. Besides it wasn’t any of her business, if he wanted to give himself cancer then who was she to stop him? Yet she continued to sit with a playful expression plastered onto her tanned face. After a moment a few words slipped from her lips. “You know what scientists say about smoking right?”

Ty ran his hand over his stubble, looking up at the sky rather than at her. He didn’t know how he was going to pull off being a wealthy Vanderwood, so all he had to do was act like Nate. He looked back over at her and revealed his teeth, giving a genuine smile. “That it releases pressure?” He raised a brow, a smile still plastered onto his face. Butting out the cigarette, he threw it in the opposite direction, away from them. “I don’t know why people say quitting is so hard. I mean, I’ve done it several times.” He bit his lip.
He then ran his hand through his hair and turned to face her. Cocking his head to his side, he admired her body, but quickly shot his eyes up to hers. “So what are you doing out here on this fine day?” He asked. It wasn’t much, but it was a conversation starter. Taking note that he was still shirtless, he layed back beside to pool to soak up all of the warm rays.

“There are better ways to release pressure,” Nikki chided arching an eyebrow as though her words were of supreme knowledge. She stretched her tanned limbs and covered her mouth with a hand as she lightly yawned; sunbathing always made her relatively sleepy. “Trust me; I believe you’d enjoy them more.” Nikki watched, somewhat amused as his tossed his cigarette away in the opposite direction, it left a tiny trail of smoke in its wake.
At his question she sighed and took another drink of water before responding, her expression tranquil yet a hint of arrogance still lingered upon her features. Swiping an ebony curl away from her eyes Nikki answered, “I’ve just gotten back from my vacation in Italy with my family, though if you ask me I’d hardly consider it a vacation. Obviously it’s sunny so I decided to relax by the poolside. But tell me, why are you here Ty?” she inquired examining her nails. “In other words are you here for recreational purposes or…work? You seem the athletic type.”

Ty guessed that the girl before him was Italian. She looked it, and she certainly didn't fit into England. She wasn't pale like the rest of the people at Wigmore. Ty and his cousin Nathaniel weren't very pale, but they were both part Italian which showed in the colour of their skin. "I've never been to Italy, but I hear that it's beautiful." He commented. He had never even been out of London. It was because his family was poor. But of course he never mentioned that, because he had to pretend he had money.
"I'm just out here for a swim. Not training. You know, impress girls with this body of mine." He light heatedly joked, giving off a smile. He didn't have a shirt on at the time, and his body was obviously worked on. It was from all the training he did at the gym during the year. He had to make up for his lack of money in some way, and his body was what usually did it. Girls hated guys who wouldn't be able to support them financially, so that was the plus side to being an athlete.
But he wouldn't always be poor. He wanted to play professional soccer and make money there. Soccer was his life, and he was determined to follow that dream. It wouldn't be too hard, as he had already spoken to a couple of scouts here and there. The only problem was he didn't have the money to take him to different places so scouts could see him play, thats why he was on a scholarship to Wigmore.
